If you attended an event like this and were told it was all across Canada you were lied to it did not happen in our circuit.
hoser, where is your circuit? i guess it's possible that not ALL circuits were included, but they kept repeating that those listening were ranging from vancouver island to newfoundland. they specifically mentioned alot of cities by name, and i can't think of any significantly sized ones that weren't included.

hey, ok so to everyone not in canada, what i'm talking about is that last night all the english congregations across the whole of canada were congregated in assembly halls, multi-KH complexes, and rented facilities for a "zone visit" (thats what they called it, i never heard of it before either) supposedly for a big announcement from bethel that they could then tell everyone from coast to coast at the same time.
the things i mentioned in my opening comment about announcing its false or whatever, i obviously didn't truely expect, but those are the kind of things i would be much more excited about.. :P hehe
it was mostly about the new printing press and how all of the north american and carribean litterature will now be printed at the canada branch and that much help will be needed and so on and so forth.
by the way, it was complete with opening, middle, and closing song!

yeah. at restaurants i wouldnt want other people to notice it, so i'd just hold the fork and look at the plate in a way that to fellow witnesses at my table it looked like i was praying but to potential onlookers from other tables it'd look like i was just staring at my food, or at least thats what i hoped it looked like.

I've heard from fellow JWs that in Hawaii, JW men don't wear suits and ties out in service because nobody in Hawaii does

policy-wise i think there's very little varience, but there are some regional variations in attitude. i found that in central american spanish cultures there seems to be more of an emotional involvement and expressions like "how are you? ..i'm good, thanks to jehovah" or "will i see you later? ..yeah i'll see you later, if god permits" are used left right and center, as contrasted with the more rule-based north americans that avoid everythng in case it might "stumble" someone in the cong
i notice the jw's don't really donate to charities.
when i donated to the earthquake in haiti, my husband didn't really say anything about it.
silence usually means he doesn't agree with something because of his religious beliefs.
not a problem with haiti in particular, also not technically a problem at all, just that many relief efforts and organizations have ties to other churches or similar things. if it has the slightest connection to anything at all religious, it is "wrong" to "support" it.
also, if a witness wants to send monetary aid to a disaster area, doing so through the watchtower society is the only way it reflects well on him, as contributing to any other outfit would be "relying on worldly organizations, while jehovah already has one in place that will take care of the brothers"
